Both apps are free, with no paywall and no ads. Nifty Gifts and WishApp run the same way: affiliate commissions on product links cover the costs, and nothing is added to what you pay. Neither charges a subscription. On price alone, it's a genuine tie. The difference shows up everywhere else.
This is the big one. Nifty Gifts is web-only. There's no iPhone or Android app yet, just a roadmap promise, and no Mac app either. You get a Chrome and Firefox extension, with Safari still 'coming soon.' WishApp runs natively on iPhone, iPad, Android phone and tablet, macOS, plus extensions for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera and Safari, and a Raycast add-on. If you add gifts from your phone, that gap decides it.
Here Nifty Gifts holds its own. You share a list with a secret guest link or a QR code, and its 'surprise mode' hides reservations from the owner so the gifts stay a surprise. WishApp does the same, with hidden reservations and QR codes too. One open question: Nifty Gifts doesn't document whether guests need an account to view or reserve. WishApp recipients just open the link, no sign-up required.
Nifty Gifts has two nice touches WishApp doesn't. You can group lists into folders by occasion or person, and rate how much you want each item rather than just flag a favourite. Handy if you juggle a lot of lists. WishApp keeps lists flat with a simpler priority flag. But WishApp pulls ahead on the gifting side: Secret Santa for group draws, a curated discover feed for ideas, and reserved and received tracking. Nifty Gifts has none of those.
