Wishes vs. WishApp (2026 Comparison)

Wishes compared with WishApp, two wishlist apps side by side

Wishes is a Danish wishlist app for iPhone and Android, built around Christmas, birthdays and a free Secret Santa draw. This page compares it with WishApp on price, devices, how gift booking works and how you add items.

Last updated: October 2026

Looking for a Wishes alternative? Wishes is a friendly phone app with Siri support and a ChatGPT and Claude connector, but the free plan stops at three wishlists and there's no browser extension. WishApp has no list limit, saves products from your browser and hides reservations by default. Of the Wishes alternatives, it's the one we'd pick.

Feature comparison

Wishes is ahead on iPhone shortcuts, its AI connector, app languages and a Secret Santa draw that needs no account.

A closer look

Price and the three-list limit

Wishes is free for up to three wishlists, with unlimited wishes, sharing, booking and the Secret Santa draw. A fourth list costs $1.99 in the US, or you pay $9.99 a year for Wishes Plus. Plus is also what unlocks editing a list together, invitation-only lists and photo themes, and it's sold only inside the iPhone and Android apps. WishApp has no paid tier at all. Unlimited lists and lists you edit with someone else are free, and it earns money from affiliate links instead.

Devices

Wishes lives on your phone. You can start a list and add wishes on the website, but its help center says the rest of the organizing happens in the app. There's no Mac app and no browser extension, and Wishes' own blog calls the missing extension 'the honest gap'. The iPhone app needs iOS 26. WishApp has native apps for iPhone, iPad, Android and Mac, a full web app, and extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Brave and Opera.

Booking and the surprise

Both apps stop duplicate gifts, but they hide different things. On Wishes, a booked wish shows 'Booked' to everyone, the list owner included. The owner never learns who booked it, but they can see which gifts are taken, and its help center describes no way to hide that. WishApp hides reservations from the owner by default, so the list looks untouched. Wishes also allows one booking per wish, while on WishApp several people can each reserve part of a quantity. On both, anyone can view a list without signing up, and reserving takes a free account.

Adding items

Adding a wish is quick on either phone. Paste a link or share it from another app, and the photo and name come in. Wishes doesn't bring in the price, though. Its help center suggests typing it into the comment if it matters. WishApp fills in the title, image and price from any product link. On a computer, its browser extension saves the product you're looking at in one click, where Wishes has you copy the link and paste it in.

Where Wishes is ahead

Wishes does a few things WishApp doesn't. In its phone apps you can start a list before signing up, where WishApp asks for an account first. On iPhone you can add a wish with Siri, find lists through Spotlight and put a widget on your home screen. A connector lets Claude, or ChatGPT on a paid plan, create lists and add wishes for you. And its Secret Santa draw needs no account, though anyone with the group link can open any name. WishApp's organizer needs an account.

Who each app suits

Choose Wishes if…

  • You need three lists or fewer and want to start one on your phone before signing up.
  • You live on your iPhone and want Siri, Spotlight and a home-screen widget for your wishes.
  • You'd like ChatGPT or Claude to build and edit your wishlists for you.
  • You want to draw Secret Santa names without anyone creating an account.

Choose WishApp if…

  • You want as many lists as you like, shared ones included, without paying.
  • You shop on a computer and want to save products from your browser in one click.
  • You'd rather the list owner couldn't tell which gifts are already reserved.
  • You use a Mac or an iPad, or you want your wishlist app in Danish.

Wishes FAQ

Wishes is free for up to three wishlists, with unlimited wishes, sharing, booking and a Secret Santa draw. An extra list costs $1.99 in the US, and Wishes Plus costs $9.99 a year for unlimited lists, editing lists together and invitation-only lists. People who book gifts never pay. WishApp is free with no list limit and no paid tier.

No. Wishes has no extension for Chrome, Firefox, Safari or any other browser, and its own blog says so. On a computer you copy a product link and paste it into a list. WishApp has extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Brave and Opera that save a product in one click.

Only to book one. Booking a gift on Wishes takes a free sign-in with Apple, Google or an email code, but anyone can open your list in a browser without the app or an account. WishApp works the same way: no account to view, a free account to reserve.

On Wishes, the owner can see which gifts are booked, but not who booked them. Every booked wish shows a 'Booked' label to everyone, and the help center describes no way to hide it. On WishApp, reservations are hidden from the owner by default, so they can't tell which gifts are covered.

Wishes is made by Wiheads ApS, a small company in Frederiksberg, Denmark. The app first came out on the App Store in October 2024, and its LinkedIn page lists two employees. Even with its Danish roots, the app isn't in Danish. It supports English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese and Spanish.

Its users like it. Wishes has 4.6 stars from 159 ratings on the US App Store and 4.4 from 562 ratings on Google Play, where it has passed 10,000 downloads. Reviewers mostly praise how easy it is to use. The complaints are about bugs, such as wishes that disappeared, and about paying for extras like photo themes.

For most people, WishApp. It's free with no list limit, saves products in one click from every major browser, fills in prices for you and hides reservations from the list owner by default. If you want Siri, a home-screen widget or an AI assistant that edits your lists, Wishes does those and WishApp doesn't.

Not automatically. Wishes' help center lists no export tool, and WishApp's list importer doesn't read Wishes lists. You'd add your wishes again by pasting each product link into WishApp, which fills in the title, image and price for you.
